浪大起来，躺在床上，闭上眼睛，身体仿佛在画一个椭圆。

从船头向船尾方向看，海平线上下浮动的幅度有3米。

“决心号”U1502站位在南海的北面，地处副热带无风带，英文里称作horse latitude。据说，叫这个名字的原因是因为以前船只航行到这里，往往因为没有风而无法继续航行，为了减轻重量人们只好把船上的马匹丢到海里。

这个名词由此而来。

船身靠近海面的地方已经长起了一层藤壶。这是一种灰白色、有石灰质外壳的节肢动物。它的形状有点像马的牙齿，所以生活在海边的人们常叫它“马牙”。不过，“马牙”长在船身上不是什么好事，“决心号”上的菲律宾船工们正在抓紧时间刷漆。

实验室里难得地冷清下来，因为安装重返锥需要三四天的时间，这意味着这几天不会有新的岩芯送上来，紧张的科考有了喘息的时间。

夜晚降临，甲板上，首席技术员丽萨（Lisa Crowder)拿出了自己那把日本产的TAKAMINE电箱吉他。

第一首演奏的，来自于另一个同样名字叫丽萨的人写的《写给“决心号”的歌》。

这位丽萨（Lisa Strong），曾经是“决心号”的科普专员，参与过两个航次的科考。

这首《写给“决心号”的歌》，现在已经是专属于“决心号”的歌曲。
